Common questions

What prospective and current clients ask most.

Do you serve clients outside Oregon?
Yes. Ryan is qualified to prepare returns in all 50 states, including Oregon, New York, Connecticut, and California. Blue Circle serves clients nationwide through a secure remote process, with each engagement confirmed for scope, timing, and fit.
Do I need to visit an office?
Most work is designed for a secure remote workflow. Consultations, document exchange, signatures, and delivery can generally happen without an office visit.
How do I send tax documents?
After Blue Circle accepts an engagement, you receive instructions for the secure client system. Do not send tax documents, SSNs, bank information, or identity documents through ordinary email, text, or public website tools.
What happens during the initial consultation?
The consultation focuses on fit, services needed, timing, record condition, complexity, and the appropriate next step. It is not a substitute for a complete return review or formal written tax advice.
How much will my tax return cost?
Fees depend on the forms, states, businesses, rentals, investments, record condition, deadlines, and advisory work involved. Expected scope and fee factors are discussed before the engagement begins.
What does a tax extension do?
A valid extension generally provides more time to file the return. It does not ordinarily provide more time to pay tax due, so interest and possible late-payment penalties may continue after the payment deadline.
Do you prepare prior-year or amended returns?
Prior-year and amended-return work may be available after reviewing the years involved, available records, filing history, and deadlines.
Can you help with an IRS or state notice?
Blue Circle can help review many notices and determine an appropriate response path. Representation authority and the exact service available depend on the agency, issue, procedural stage, and Ryan’s professional authority.
Can I use the public calculators instead of filing software?
No. The calculators are educational estimates with deliberately limited scope. They do not prepare a return, determine full eligibility, access IRS records, or replace professional software.
Do you provide legal or investment advice?
No. Blue Circle provides tax and business support within its professional scope and will identify when a question should be directed to an attorney, investment adviser, or another specialist.
What response time should I expect?
Response expectations are confirmed with each engagement and may vary during filing season. The business phone is commonly used for voicemail and callback coordination rather than an always-live call center.
When do I become a client?
Website use, a Calendly booking, an introductory call, or receiving general information does not create a client relationship. An engagement begins only after Blue Circle accepts the work and the required engagement terms are completed.
